Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cesar Portella (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Tippin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cesar Portella! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pete Tippin! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Damien Edna and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Portella has his takedown stuffed and Tippin counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Portella with a lazy takedown attempt and Tippin counters with a nice body shot. Portella is breathing heavily. Portella shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tippin sprawls well. Tippin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Portella gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cesar Portella. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tippin throws a leg kick but Portella sees it coming and checks it nicely. Tippin clinches up with Portella and pushes him back against the cage. Tippin is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Tippin has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Portella uses from the top position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Portella won't allow Tippin to sweep him here. The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Pete Tippin wasn't active enough on the ground. Tippin looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Portella! Tippin is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Portella can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Tippin trying to control but Portella is having none of it. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Portella is trying desperately to improve position. Tippin sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tippin can't control as he wanted to and Portella manages to get the fight back to his half guard. Portella is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Tippin pulls his head out easily. Portella is refusing to be controlled, as Tippin sits in half guard. Portella wants to get back to his feet. Tippin content to control rather than advance. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pete Tippin has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Tippin closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Portella did well to prevent Tippin getting side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tippin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Portella is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Tippin pulls his head out easily. Portella missing with punches from the bottom.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pete Tippin dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Tippin throws a wild body kick that Portella sees coming a mile off. Portella with a lazy takedown attempt and Tippin counters with a series of strikes. Portella will be more careful next time no doubt. Cesar Portella is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Portella scores a takedown into full mount! Portella working for a submission but Tippin is keeping him at bay. Tippin wants to control but Portella is having none of it. Portella punching from mount but Tippin doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Portella goes for an armbar but Tippin turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Tippin. Tippin lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Tippin seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Tippin postures up and lands a big shot to Portella's brow. Portella might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Tippin stands and throws Portella's legs to the side, diving into side control. Tippin wants to control but Portella is keeping him busy. Tippin is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Portella's shoulder. That is not cool.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Portella is working to avoid the ground and pound but Tippin connects with a decent elbow. Portella is trying to get back to half guard. Portella tries to control but Tippin manages to take his back. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A lull in the action here.

Tippin throws a right and a left that both miss. Portella shoots for a takedown but Tippin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Cesar Portella seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tippin scores with a one two! Portella had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Tippin takes the fight into the clinch. Tippin slowing the pace effectively. Tippin prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cesar Portella. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tippin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Tippin has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Tippin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Portella circles away quickly and effectively. Tippin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Tippin taking a breather here. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Portella is trying to control Tippin's posture but Tippin avoids it. Portella is being controlled here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pete Tippin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Portella has a takedown stuffed. Tippin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Portella looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Portella tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tippin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Tippin trying to control the action but Portella is working from the bottom. Tippin is trying to get an arm triangle but Portella is defending well. You can see the frustration on Portella's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Both fighters are breathing heavily. A lull in the action here as Tippin stalls from top position.

Tippin landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Tippin is looking to take a break and control but Portella is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Portella prevents Tippin from improving position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tippin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Portella keeps working. Tippin tries to move to mount but Portella blocks the move with his legs. Portella struggling a bit here. Portella is letting Tippin control him for a moment. Portella looks to move to half guard but instead Tippin has passed into mount! Damn! Pete Tippin has got the better of the ground game so far. Portella is trying desperately to improve position. Tippin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Tippin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Portella is looking to escape. Tippin controlling from mount. Portella tries to reverse the position but Tippin maintains control. Cesar Portella has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Tippin wants to control but Portella has made it back to half guard. Nice work. Tippin drops an elbow to the side of Portella's head. Portella looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Tippin trying to control the action but Portella is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Portella moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Portella keeping moving, preventing Tippin from controlling successfully. Tippin advances position into side control! Tippin in side control, just content to control the action for now. Tippin moves into full mount! Pete Tippin is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Tippin controlling his opponent.
And that's the end of the fight! Pete Tippin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Tippin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
