Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chester Gates!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jonny Jones!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Bruno Lombardi and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gates throws a push kick but Jones slaps the foot to one side.
Jones gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Gates tries to break free but Jones pushes him back against the cage.
Jones pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jones avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A low kick from Gates misses
and Jones counters with a slapping leg kick.
Gates misses with the combination.
Gates fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jones lands with a nice body kick.
Jones misses with a kick to the body.
Gates shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jones sprawls well. Jones wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gates gets slowly back to his feet.

Jones closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gates regains half guard, as Jones was trying to land strikes.
Jones working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jones connects with a nice short shot to Gates's temple.
Gates is trying to stand back up but Jones is controlling him
Jones thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Jones working over Gates with some ground and pound. Gates looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Jones lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jones thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Jones has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Jones sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
