Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jacob Byler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Renzo Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Byler drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Byler would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Byler trying to control but Gracie is working from the bottom.
Byler looking to sit in guard and control but Gracie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Byler is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gracie is aware though and is defending well.
Byler wants to stand up but Gracie is controlling him.
Gracie trying to control but Byler is working from the bottom.

Gracie is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Byler is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Byler has escaped and now he's on top!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Gracie displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Byler.
Gracie changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Byler tries to avoid it but Gracie manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Byler to the ground. Byler escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gracie tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Byler swivels and escapes.

Gracie fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Byler sprawls well initially but Gracie persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Byler is looking to escape.
Byler is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Gracie is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Byler defends it well.
Gracie looks gassed!
Byler looks like he's trying to stand up.

Still in half guard, Gracie seems content to control.
Byler on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Byler tries to get out of the position.

Byler avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gracie.
Byler has a hand on Gracie's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Gracie takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Gracie breaks from Byler's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Byler regains half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jacob Byler will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



A momentary lapse in concentration from Gracie enables Byler to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gracie manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Gracie is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Byler wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jacob Byler wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Byler works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Byler tries to score a body lock takedown but Gracie shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Byler misses with a body punch.
Byler lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Gracie backwards.
Gracie gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Byler.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacob Byler. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Byler looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Gracie is trying to drag Byler to the mat but Byler just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Byler is pressed up against the cage. Gracie has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Byler down to the mat. Byler avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Gracie is breathing heavily.
Byler tries to clinch up but Gracie circles away and keeps his distance.

Byler throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Byler moves into the clinch.
Byler lands with a light punch inside.
Gracie takes a shot to the head.
Byler tries for a takedown. No joy.

Gracie fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Byler avoids it really well and circles away.
Nice sprawl there from Gracie as Byler shoots in.
Byler closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gracie circles away.
Gracie shoots for a takedown but Byler saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Gracie shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Byler defends it nicely.

Byler wants to clinch up but Gracie keeps it at a distance.

Byler shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gracie napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Gracie tries to bench press Byler off him but Byler keeps the position.

Byler stands up and we're back to a striking position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Byler tries to clinch up but Gracie circles away and keeps his distance.
Gracie takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Byler clinches up with Gracie and pushes him back against the cage.
Byler lands a body punch in the clinch.
A bit of stalling here from Byler.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jacob Byler dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Byler fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gracie avoids it really well and circles away.
Byler wants to clinch up but Gracie keeps it at a distance.
Byler shoots in looking for a takedown. Gracie tries to sprawl out of it but Byler keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gracie manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gracie keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacob Byler. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gracie throws the kick towards the body but Byler avoids it.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown but Byler shows good takedown defense.
Gracie takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Byler looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Byler closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Gracie is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Byler's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Byler is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Gracie has managed to free his arm - good work.
Byler prevents Gracie from improving his position.

Gracie is positioning himself well to prevent Byler advancing to mount.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Byler drops an elbow to the side of Gracie's head.

Byler works his foot free and advances to mount.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Byler cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Renzo Gracie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
