Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomi shoots and misses
and Connely makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Tsatsu Gomi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gomi fails with a takedown attempt.
Connely fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gomi manages to avoid it.
Gomi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Connely is fending him off so far but Gomi persists. Nope, Connely circles away and we're back to standing.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gomi is defended easily by Connely.
Gomi has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Connely.
Connely clinches.
Gomi is trying to pull guard but Connely turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Connely struggles to land a body shot inside as Gomi controls his hands.
Connely's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Connely counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Gomi fails to land the takedown.
Gomi tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Connely was well out of range. Poor timing from Gomi.
Gomi dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

and Connely counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Connely throws a good cross that connects.

Gomi has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Connely finds it's way round the side to connect with Gomi's head.
Gomi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Connely uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Connely throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Connely throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gomi stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Connely throws a good cross that connects.

A lazy left from Connely finds it's target.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Gomi. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Connely has closed the distance and engaged Gomi in a clinch.
Gomi tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Connely smiles and moves away.
Connely is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Gomi had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Connely takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
A swing and a miss from Gomi.
Connely is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Connely's corner calls for a 1-2. Connely obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gomi on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Connely thumps Gomi with a low kick.
Gomi is looking to wear down Connely with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Connely feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gomi's calf.
Gomi takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Connely lands a jab to the nose.
Gomi drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Gomi is rocked!
Gomi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Connely as he jumps to the side.
Connely sends Gomi crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Connely is motioning to the referee to let Gomi up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Oh Gomi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Gomi looks up at the clock. Bad move! Connely lands a right hand from hell, dropping Gomi. Connely pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
