Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Todd Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Smith or perhaps it was just good defense by Velasquez which made him look bad.
Todd Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Velasquez misses with a takedown attempt - Smith sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Velasquez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Smith.
Velasquez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Todd Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cain Velasquez.
Smith throws a shot to the body.
Smith shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Velasquez's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Velasquez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Smith has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Smith gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Velasquez.
Velasquez has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Smith avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Smith struggles to land a body shot inside as Velasquez controls his hands.
Smith wants the takedown. Velasquez is fighting it off but Smith persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Velasquez's guard against the cage.
Velasquez pulls Smith in close to prevent any damage.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
