Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nick Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ramsey Nijem! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Fedor Mirinova and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A cross from Diaz lands. A jab from Diaz misses. Diaz leaves Nijem with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Diaz lands a jab. Nice sprawl there from Diaz as Nijem shoots in. Diaz lands a jab to the nose. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Diaz throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Diaz lands with a good body shot. Diaz moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nijem takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Nick Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nijem closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Diaz did well to prevent Nijem getting side control. Nijem prevents Diaz from improving his position. Nijem with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Diaz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Nijem's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Nijem's back! Diaz goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Nijem escapes and is now in half guard on top. Diaz is trying to control but Nijem passes into side control!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nijem is looking to take a break and control but Diaz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Nijem throws an elbow but Diaz slips to the side and avoids it well. Nijem misses with the ground and pound. Nijem postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Nijem working away. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nijem working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Diaz tries to escape but Nijem is in control. Nijem just content to control the position. Diaz is looking for a sweep. Nijem is looking to take a break and control but Diaz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Nijem is working Diaz over with some ground and pound from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nijem throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Nijem controlling the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Nijem working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Nijem is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nick Diaz dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
The fighters circling - Diaz throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Diaz swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Diaz lands with a nice body punch. Nijem looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Nijem sitting in guard here, content to control. Diaz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Nijem is aware though and is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz keeping moving, preventing Nijem from controlling successfully. Diaz controls Nijem momentarily but Nijem frees himself. Nijem engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ramsey Nijem. No joy there for Diaz, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz throws a combination that misses and Nijem counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Diaz! Nijem takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Diaz avoids a series of strikes thrown by Nijem.
Nijem putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nijem tries to control but Diaz wriggling away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nijem avoids the attempt from Diaz to control. Nijem landing strikes from the mount. Nijem lands a big elbow. Nijem controlling from the full mount. Nijem trying to control but Diaz is having none of it. Diaz is looking to improve his position but Nijem isn't that keen on the idea.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nijem lands a big shot there that rocks Diaz but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Nijem lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Diaz tries to hold on but Nijem postures up. Nijem lands a heavy elbow. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Diaz wants to control but Nijem is having none of it. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nijem tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ramsey Nijem showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Diaz cracks a nice hook into Nijem's ribs. Nijem fails with a takedown attempt. Nijem takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Nijem displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Diaz throws out the jab. Diaz loads up on a big right hand but Nijem slips the punch. Diaz misses with an uppercut. Nijem saw that one coming.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Nijem eats them both and turns towards Diaz to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Nijem fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Diaz avoids it really well and circles away. Diaz slaps away a takedown attempt from Nijem, before circling back to the center of the mat. Nick Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ramsey Nijem. Diaz keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Diaz throws a nice looking combination but Nijem bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Diaz looks to land a left hand but Nijem moved out of range nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz works the jab nicely. Diaz scores with a jab. Nijem dives in and scores a takedown into Diaz's guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Nijem trying to control the position from guard on top but Diaz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Nijem is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Nijem works over Diaz with some ground and pound from guard. Diaz wants to get back to his feet but Nijem is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz looking for a guillotine here but Nijem defends easily.

Nijem trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Diaz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nijem defends well. Nijem wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Nijem controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
And that's the end of the fight! Nick Diaz showed his dominance in that final round. I think Diaz has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
