Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chance Taken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jessie Villegas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jessie Villegas! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Taken misses with a two punch combination.

The fighters circling - Villegas throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Taken avoids a punch combination nicely.
Villegas takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Taken on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Taken tries for a takedown but Villegas sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Taken gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Villegas. Villegas thumps Taken with a low kick. This has been an exciting period of action! Villegas throws a hook but Taken avoids it easily. Jessie Villegas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Villegas fails to land with a series of punches.
Taken shoots in for a takedown but Villegas shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Villegas shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Villegas digs a good body shot into Taken's ribs. Villegas throws a combination that misses and Taken counters with a left and a right that stings Villegas. Villegas throws a leg kick but Taken checks it. Villegas throws out a powerful jab. Villegas gets caught napping as Taken dives in and scores a takedown. Villegas manages to retain guard. Villegas avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Villegas postures up in Taken's guard and throws a big left but Taken blocks it. Villegas is looking to advance position but Taken has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Taken tries to control but Villegas wriggling away. Villegas really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Taken has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Villegas's face.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Taken tries to control but Villegas wriggling away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Villegas keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Taken landing shots from mount. Taken lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Villegas regains half guard. Taken is looking for a kimura but Villegas is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Taken to get the leverage. Taken has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Taken in particular looking to stall.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Taken is trying to control the action in half guard but Villegas is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Villegas wants to control but Taken is keeping busy.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Taken wants to pass to mount but Villegas is defending the position. Taken not doing much here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Taken is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Villegas is just riding it out for now. Taken eventually gives up the hold. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Chance Taken will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Taken takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Taken takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. A jab lands there for Villegas. Villegas looks to score with a jab to the body but Taken is just out of range. Villegas will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Villegas lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Villegas scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Villegas tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. A punch combination from Villegas misses. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Taken. Taken shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Villegas sprawls well. Villegas wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Taken gets slowly back to his feet. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Villegas misses with a head kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Villegas throws a sloppy head kick and Taken moves out of range easily. Taken dives in and grabs Villegas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Villegas pushes down on Taken's head and hops out. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Villegas, as that shot connected.
Villegas lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Villegas misses with an uppercut. Villegas connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Jessie Villegas seems to be getting the better of the standup. Taken looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Taken takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Villegas moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. This has been an exciting period of action! Taken shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Villegas is trying to defend but Taken finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Taken missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Taken looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Villegas moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jessie Villegas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Taken steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Villegas. Taken moves out of range as Villegas strikes. Taken shoots in but no luck this time. Villegas catches Taken with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Villegas shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Taken throws a jab but it's blocked by Villegas. Villegas throws a chopping leg kick but Taken manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Nice takedown defense from Villegas. No joy for Taken on that attempt. Villegas moves out of range of the strikes. Taken shoots in for a double leg but Villegas sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chance Taken. That's going to take a lot out of him. Villegas looks to throw the jab but Taken is out of range.

Taken trying to control the position from guard on top but Villegas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Taken working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Chance Taken has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Taken misses with a takedown attempt - Villegas sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Villegas looks to score with a jab to the body but Taken is just out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Taken looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Villegas is fending him off so far but Taken persists. Nope, Villegas circles away and we're back to standing. Taken shoots in for a takedown but Villegas shows good takedown defense. Villegas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Taken moves away. A looping hook to the body misses from Villegas. Taken does a little dance to reset his feet. Villegas misses with a few strikes there.
A slow jab from Villegas misses its intended target. Nice defenses there by Taken. A big left from Villegas misses. Taken swings and misses with a hook to the body.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Jessie Villegas. I think Villegas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
