Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roy Savage! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Scott Barnett! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barnett slips a jab and a cross from Savage.
A punch combination from Savage misses. Savage connects with a jab. Savage changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Barnett looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Savage sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Barnett is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Barnett tries to get back to half guard but can't. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Savage decides to stand back up. Savage steps back and let's Barnett get back to his feet. This has been an exciting period of action! Savage lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Barnett circles away quickly and effectively. Barnett thumps Savage with a low kick. Savage looks to throw the jab but Barnett is out of range. Savage avoids a punch combination nicely.
Savage rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Barnett moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Savage gets in close and instigates a clinch. Barnett fails to pull guard.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Barnett fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Barnett jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Savage walks away with a smile on his face. Barnett gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Roy Savage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scott Barnett. Savage lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Savage fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Barnett, pushing him back against the cage. Savage pulls guard. Barnett tries to free his leg and advance position but Savage is retaining full guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Savage keeping moving, preventing Barnett from controlling successfully. Savage knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Barnett on the ground. Barnett being controlled here momentarily.
Roy Savage has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Savage uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Barnett.
Barnett throws a head kick but Savage moves out of range.

It looks like Scott Barnett has been cut. Scott Barnett is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Savage fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Barnett sprawls well initially but Savage persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barnett works his way to full guard. Good work. Barnett has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Savage can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Barnett working for a triangle but Savage defends it easily.
Barnett looks gassed! Barnett being controlled here, momentarily. Savage has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Barnett looking to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Savage got a little sloppy there for a moment and Barnett has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Savage has managed to get both his arms back between Barnett's legs - danger averted. Barnett trying to control the position.
Savage won't allow Barnett to sweep him here. Savage working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Barnett is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Barnett has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Savage can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Savage distracts Barnett with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Roy Savage dominated that round. The cut man is working on Scott Barnett's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Barnett checks a low kick from Savage. Barnett with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Savage throws a right hand that Barnett ducks under and follows up with a left that Barnett also avoids with ease. OH! Barnett has been rocked by a huge right hand and is in deep trouble! Savage smells blood and charges in for the finish! Savage unloads a vicious overhand right and connects to the jaw of Barnett sending him face first to the canvas! Unbelievable!
