Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lewis McLay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Deimon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lewis McLay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Phil Deimon!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Skip Squint and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Deimon closes the distance and clinches.
McLay blocks an uppercut.
McLay with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
McLay being controlled against the cage.

McLay escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

A momentary lapse in concentration from McLay enables Deimon to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. McLay manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
McLay is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Deimon is trying to defend against the ground and pound but McLay scores with a couple of nice shots.

McLay lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
McLay has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

McLay is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

McLay is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Deimon defends it well.

Deimon slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

McLay got a little sloppy there for a moment and Deimon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McLay has managed to get both his arms back between Deimon's legs - danger averted.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McLay wants to control from the top but Deimon keeps moving.

McLay is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lewis McLay dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A jab from Deimon does it's job there.
Deimon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Deimon wants it to stay on the feet.
McLay shoots in and drives through. Deimon sprawls well.

Deimon gets the takedown into side control.
Deimon cracks McLay with a big right hand but McLay just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
McLay is looking to regain half guard here but Deimon keeps moving and retains side control.
McLay is working to avoid the ground and pound but Deimon connects with a decent elbow.
McLay is looking for a sweep.
McLay wants to get back to his feet but Deimon drags him back down.
Deimon landing strikes.

Deimon decides to stand back up. Deimon steps back and let's McLay get back to his feet.
Phil Deimon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McLay shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lewis McLay. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Deimon rushes McLay and presses him up against the cage.
McLay throws a head punch that misses.

McLay lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

McLay prevents Deimon from improving his position.
Lewis McLay overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Deimon works his way to full guard. Good work.
Deimon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
McLay postures up in Deimon's guard and throws a big left but Deimon blocks it.

Deimon controls McLay momentarily but McLay frees himself.
McLay loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Deimon had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McLay defends it easily.

Deimon is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! McLay rolls with it to try and escape but Deimon cranks on the arm and McLay is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
