Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brett Davids (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonny Gambler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davids comes to the cage accompanied by "Sharp Dressed Man" by ZZ Top. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brett Davids!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jonny Gambler!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Summer Carpenter and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gambler looks to land a combination but Davids avoids it well.
Gambler throws a hook but Davids avoids it easily.
Gambler misses with a body shot
and Davids counters with a nice body kick.
Gambler throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Davids drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Davids working the ground and pound but Gambler is defending the strikes.
Davids is looking to take a break and control but Gambler is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Davids tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Gambler regains half guard there - taking advantage of Davids's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Davids is looking to advance position but Gambler won't allow it.
Gambler looking for submissions off his back.
Davids moves into full mount! Gambler won't be happy about that!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davids moves to take his opponent's back.
Gambler is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Gambler is trying to get back to his feet but Davids has full control of the position and if anything, Gambler has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Gambler looks gassed!
Davids has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Gambler has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Davids has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Gambler has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Davids is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Gambler breaks Davids's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Davids working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gambler doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gambler manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gambler has gone for a leg lock! Davids slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gambler's guard.

Gambler wants to sweep here but Davids controlling him for the moment.
Davids wants to pass the guard but Gambler is keeping the position.

Gambler is trying to escape the position but Davids is controlling the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Davids is keen to just control but Gambler is a slippery customer.
Davids is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gambler doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Davids.

Gambler regains full guard. Nicely done.
Davids drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Davids jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Gambler throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Davids escapes and throws Gambler's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Gambler is breathing heavily.
Davids trying to control the position but Gambler is working away.
Brett Davids overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Davids is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gambler is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Gambler is looking to reverse the position.

Davids thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
A lull in the action here.
Davids wants to control but Gambler is keeping him busy.
Gambler is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Davids has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Davids wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gambler keeps working.
Davids is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Davids tries for a kimura but Gambler is defending well.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Gambler tries to bench press Davids off him but Davids keeps the position.
Davids tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Davids has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Gambler swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Davids plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Gambler throws a right hand that misses
and Davids counters with an outside leg kick.
Davids looks for a takedown but Gambler sprawls well.
Davids manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Gambler on his heels. He'll look to pass Gambler's guard now, I'm sure.

Gambler is being controlled here.
Davids is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gambler knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Gambler takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Davids is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gambler sees it coming and defends easily.
Davids is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Gambler is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Brett Davids!
A less than humble Brett Davids misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
