PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Silvestry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doran Connell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Silvestry might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Street Fighter. The crowd seem to be enjoying Connell's choice of entrance music: Rob Kelly - Rockstar. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Connell is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Connell throws a sloppy head kick and Silvestry moves out of range easily.
Silvestry tries to bum rush Connell with a series of wild strikes but Connell uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Connell tries to clinch but Silvestry moves out of range.

Silvestry clinches up against the cage.
Connell lands a nice elbow.
Silvestry jumps guard but Connell stands there with Silvestry around his waist. Silvestry gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Connell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Silvestry closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Connell controls the position for a moment.
Silvestry is looking to take a break and control but Connell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Silvestry looking to control but instead Connell has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silvestry trying to mount his opponent but Connell defends it.
Silvestry wants to take a breather but Connell is having none of it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Silvestry wants to free his trapped foot but Connell is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silvestry frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Connell manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Silvestry is looking for a kimura but Connell is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Silvestry to get the leverage.
Connell wants to improve his position but Silvestry is controlling well.
Connell has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Silvestry is working away from the top position though.

Connell tries to get to full guard but Silvestry has control of the leg.

Connell throws a strike but Silvestry rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Connell tries to close the distance and clinch but Silvestry swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Silvestry shoots in and drives through. Connell sprawls well.
Silvestry keeps the fight on the outside.
Connell throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Connell lands a nice looking kick to the body. Silvestry takes a step back to recover.

Connell breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Connell lands a big head kick that sends Silvestry tumbling to the mat! Connell takes a step backwards and waves Silvestry back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Silvestry is rocked!

It looks like Brandon Silvestry has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Connell clinches with his opponent.
Oh Silvestry is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Silvestry wants to stall.
The referee is keeping an eye on Connell - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Silvestry fails to pull guard.
Silvestry jumps guard but Connell stands there with Silvestry around his waist. Silvestry gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Silvestry tries to land a knee to the head but Connell blocks with his arms.
Connell creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Silvestry's defenses.
Nice elbow from Connell.
Connell creates some distance and fires off a vicious elbow that drops Silvestry! He pounces and finishes the fight with more strikes! Nice KO for Connell.
