Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ichabod Klopfenstein !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paulo Mendosa!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Skip Squint and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendosa lands a jab to the head.
Mendosa scores with a hook to the body. Klopfenstein takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Klopfenstein instigates a clinch.
Klopfenstein throws an elbow but it misses.

Klopfenstein breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Klopfenstein .
Klopfenstein throws a sloppy head kick and Mendosa moves out of range easily.
Klopfenstein wants to land a leg kick but Mendosa is out of range.
Klopfenstein ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Mendosa cracks Klopfenstein with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Mendosa throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Klopfenstein pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Klopfenstein has Mendosa pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Klopfenstein pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Mendosa tumbling to the mat - Klopfenstein dives into Mendosa's guard.

Ichabod Klopfenstein seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Klopfenstein uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mendosa.
Klopfenstein has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Klopfenstein there as he acknowledges the shot.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mendosa is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Klopfenstein is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Mendosa gets his way!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mendosa is persistently looking for the submission but Klopfenstein is defending it well.

Klopfenstein is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mendosa is just riding it out for now. Klopfenstein eventually gives up the hold.

Klopfenstein drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mendosa looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mendosa looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mendosa!
Mendosa works to advance to full mount. Klopfenstein defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Mendosa wants to control the pace but Klopfenstein is squirming around nicely.

Mendosa has hold of Klopfenstein 's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Klopfenstein manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Mendosa can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Klopfenstein is looking to escape.
Paulo Mendosa has got the better of the ground game so far.

Mendosa goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Klopfenstein is on top in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Klopfenstein connects with a solid leg kick.
Klopfenstein lands a leg kick that knocks Mendosa off balance momentarily.
Klopfenstein has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Mendosa loads up on a big right hand but Klopfenstein slips the punch.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Mendosa crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Klopfenstein - the referee stops the clock and Mendosa gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Klopfenstein . Mendosa manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
