Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carlos Santiago! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yoshi Chiba! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chiba looks to land a right hand but Santiago moved out of range. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Chiba crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Santiago - the referee stops the clock and Chiba gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Santiago. Chiba manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Santiago misses with a hook. Chiba takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Chiba walks into a left hand. Santiago is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Santiago connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Santiago throws a left and a right that both miss
and Chiba counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Chiba takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Santiago fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Santiago misses the shot to the body. Santiago displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Chiba throws out the jab. Chiba misses with a hook. A jab from Santiago does it's job there. Chiba uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Santiago has time to react. Santiago lands with a kick to the ribs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Santiago tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Chiba paws at him with a jab and circles away. Santiago lands a jab-cross combination. Santiago tries to clinch up. Santiago dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice cross by Santiago. Santiago lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Chiba at a distance.
Nice uppercut there from Santiago. Santiago slips a straight right by Chiba. Santiago connects with a high kick. Santiago misses the jab. Chiba takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Santiago moves into range and clinches up with Chiba. Santiago trying to control the position but instead, Chiba has worked for underhooks and has pushed Santiago into the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chiba is trying to drag Santiago to the mat but Santiago just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. A right hook to the body lands for Santiago.
Santiago pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Santiago closes the distance and clinches. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Santiago misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Santiago throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Santiago tries to clinch up. Santiago closes the distance and lands a one-two. Santiago misses with a head kick.
Chiba takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Santiago tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Chiba manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Santiago will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Santiago throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Chiba on the side of the head. Left hook, right uppercut from Santiago.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santiago takes a swing at Chiba's ribcage but misses. Chiba misses with a straight right. Santiago scores with a decent looking hook. Nice takedown defense from Chiba. No joy for Santiago on that attempt. Chiba jabbing away but nothing is landing. Santiago throws a head kick that misses. Santiago lunges at Chiba with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Chiba's hand. Chiba tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Santiago scores with a push kick. Chiba has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Santiago.

It looks like Carlos Santiago has been cut. Santiago connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Chiba thows a left - swing and a miss! Santiago tries to clinch but Chiba is having none of it. Chiba swats away the attempt to clinch by Santiago. Santiago tries to close the distance and clinch up but Chiba swats him away and circles back towards the center. Santiago moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Nice body punch from Santiago. Carlos Santiago is winning the standup battle so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chiba gets tackled into the cage by Santiago. Santiago maintains the clinch. Chiba is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Santiago gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Chiba changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Santiago fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Santiago wants to clinch up but Chiba keeps it at a distance. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Santiago throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Chiba misses with a head kick.

Chiba seems to have recovered his senses. Chiba throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Santiago shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Chiba eats them both and turns towards Santiago to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Chiba throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Santiago sees it coming and avoids it easily. Santiago lands with a nice combination. Chiba backs away looking to recover. Santiago ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Chiba moves away.

Santiago moves to clinch but Chiba breaks away and Chiba counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Santiago looks to land a left hand but Chiba moved out of range nicely. Santiago feints and then cracks Chiba's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Chiba down. Santiago swings and misses with a hook to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Santiago throws a shot from downtown. Chiba moves away and avoids it. Chiba misses with a straight right.

Santiago lands an overhand right. Santiago catches Chiba with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Santiago scores with a nice strike. Chiba walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Santiago throws a sloppy head kick and Chiba moves out of range easily. Santiago throws a head kick that misses and Chiba counters with a stiff right hand.

Chiba circles away from the clinch attempt and Chiba connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Carlos Santiago is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. A head kick misses from Santiago. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Chiba throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Santiago sees it coming and avoids it easily. Santiago throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Yoshi Chiba has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Chiba has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Chiba is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Santiago.
And that's the end of the fight! Carlos Santiago showed his dominance in that final round. Well Santiago has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
