Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Bruens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alex Rios!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bruens shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Rios gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Bruens has Rios pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rios manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Rios lands a shot to the body.
Bruens tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Bruens. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rios works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bruens looking for a sweep. Not yet Bruens, not yet.
Bruens controlling the position.
Bruens is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Rios tries to roll over but Bruens keeps him under control.
Bruens seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rios does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Rios is positioning himself well to prevent Bruens advancing to mount.

Rios slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Bruens thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Bruens really is a fat lump.
Bruens trying to control the position from guard on top but Rios is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Rios looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Rios is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Bruens wants to pass the guard but Rios is keeping the position.
Bruens might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rios seems keen to control Bruens's posture.
Rios is trying to control the position from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Rios has his takedown stuffed

and Bruens counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Rios!

Rios tries to improve his position but Bruens has taken his back! Bruens has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Rios tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Bruens Pushes Rios away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
