The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spirit shoots in for a double leg but Deteike sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Deteike avoids the head kick by Spirit.

Deteike bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Spirit tries to bench press Deteike off him but Deteike keeps the position.
Spirit sneaks back into half guard.
Spirit is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Spirit is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Deteike scores with a couple of nice shots.
Spirit is refusing to be controlled, as Deteike sits in half guard.
Deteike thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Spirit escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Deteike gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Deteike avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Deteike wanted to stand there but Spirit had control of the position.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Deteike's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Deteike controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Deteike knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Spirit on the ground.

Deteike is posturing up here but Spirit has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Deteike tries to roll out but it's too tight and Deteike has to tap! Slick submission there by Spirit!
