Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Julio Mendoza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Pauson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Pauson's choice of entrance music: Lacrimosa. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Bruce Pauson was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Julio Mendoza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bruce Pauson! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendoza throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Mendoza throws a right and a left that both miss. Pauson closes the distance and clinches up with Mendoza, looking for a takedown. Pauson pushes Mendoza against the cage but Mendoza circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Horrible takedown by Pauson or perhaps it was just good defense by Mendoza which made him look bad. Mendoza throws a right hand that Pauson ducks under and follows up with a left that Pauson also avoids with ease. Pauson feints and as Mendoza raises his hands in defense, Pauson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Pauson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Pauson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Pauson scores with a takedown into Mendoza's guard. Mendoza wants to stand up but Pauson is controlling him. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pauson cracks Mendoza with a solid left hand. Pauson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Pauson stands up and waves to Mendoza to follow him. Mendoza showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Pauson.
Julio Mendoza is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Pauson crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Mendoza - the referee stops the clock and Pauson gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Mendoza. Pauson manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Pauson closes the distance and pushes Mendoza back into the cage. Pauson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Mendoza lands a head kick!

That's two minutes gone in the round. A head kick from Mendoza lands but Pauson takes it in his stride. Mendoza throws a right and a left that Pauson avoids nicely. Pauson forces Mendoza back against the cage and clinches. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pauson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mendoza swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A head kick from Mendoza lands but Pauson takes it in his stride. Mendoza pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pauson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Pauson has hold of one of Mendoza's legs. Mendoza is fighting the takedown attempt but Pauson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Pauson is in close to Mendoza's body, working some short punches and elbows.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendoza can't keep his opponent in guard - Pauson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Pauson is controlling the pace.
Mendoza tries to kick Pauson off but Pauson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Pauson is nestled in close to Mendoza, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Pauson with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Pauson decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pauson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mendoza as he jumps to the side. Julio Mendoza has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruce Pauson. Pauson gets a takedown into half guard. Pauson decides to stand and escape the position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mendoza lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Pauson backs up against the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Pauson shoots for a takedown but Mendoza saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Pauson looks gassed! Mendoza throws a wild combination but nothing lands. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bruce Pauson dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Pauson misses with a double jab.
Mendoza misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mendoza scores with a leg kick.
Pauson shoots in and gets a takedown into Mendoza's guard. Pauson stands up from guard. Let's bang! Pauson avoids a kick to the body.
Danga de danga de dang - Mendoza scores with a four punch combination! Mendoza throws a head kick that misses. Pauson throws a right and a left that Mendoza avoids nicely. Mendoza will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A solid leg kick lands there for Mendoza.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendoza moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Mendoza misses with a double jab.
Mendoza lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Pauson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bruce Pauson has got the better of the ground game so far. Pauson connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Mendoza some visible discomfort.
Pauson is working to tighten is grip on Mendoza's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Mendoza has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Pauson is really squeezing tight and eventually Mendoza passes out! Pauson breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Bruce Pauson! Bruce Pauson spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a big arrogant.
