3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nawal Chekhemani! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Devereau! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Jonathan Paton and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Devereau swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Chekhemani keeps the fight on the outside. Chekhemani fails with a takedown attempt. Chekhemani scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Chekhemani throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Devereau looks to score with a jab to the body but Chekhemani is just out of range. Chekhemani takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Chekhemani fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Devereau avoids it really well and circles away. Nawal Chekhemani seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Devereau jabs Chekhemani right on the nose. Chekhemani blinks but takes it well. Chekhemani avoids a punch combination nicely.
Chekhemani throws the left hand but Devereau avoids the punch easily. Chekhemani will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chekhemani blocks a jab. Chekhemani tries to clinch but Devereau is having none of it. Devereau pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A big left from Chekhemani misses. Donk. Devereau catches Chekhemani right on the button with a cross. Devereau is looking to clinch. Jake Devereau is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Devereau pulls out of a head kick attempt.

and Devereau counters with a nice uppercut. Devereau ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Chekhemani walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

and Devereau counters by moving into the clinch. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Devereau lands a knee to the head.
Chekhemani is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Devereau's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Devereau landing knees to the head.

Devereau lands a nice shot to the body. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Devereau keeps control of Chekhemani as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Devereau lands a good knee to the midsection. Chekhemani won't want to take too many of those. Devereau misses with a punch on the inside.

Devereau makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Chekhemani is working for takedown but Devereau is calmly controlling the position for now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nawal Chekhemani. That's going to take a lot out of him. Devereau stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Chekhemani is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Devereau stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chekhemani wants to clinch but Devereau slips to the side letting Devereau counter with a right hand. Chekhemani tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Devereau manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Devereau clobbers Chekhemani with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Chekhemani shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Devereau's guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Chekhemani drops back looking for a leg! Devereau is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Devereau manages to kick Chekhemani off! Chekhemani jumps back into Devereau's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Devereau wants to stand and escape but Chekhemani is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chekhemani engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Chekhemani looking to pass the guard. Chekhemani might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Chekhemani stands up from Devereau's guard - Chekhemani perhaps looking for a knockout. Chekhemani with a nice cross.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chekhemani gets in close and instigates a clinch. Devereau stalling against the cage.
Devereau letting Chekhemani take a breather here. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Devereau misses with a knee to the head. Devereau misses with an elbow over the top. Devereau throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Chekhemani blocks it with crossed arms. Devereau has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Devereau throws a knee to the head but misses.

It looks like Nawal Chekhemani has been cut. Devereau dips a shoulder and cracks Chekhemani with a mighty uppercut! Chekhemani falls back against the cage and Devereau unloads with a barrage of strikes! Chekhemani is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Devereau screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
