Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 20 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marshall Mason! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tim Style! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, John Roberts and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mason clinches. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Mason. Style is trying to maintain a safe position but Mason gets an underhook and turns Style into the cage. Mason is trying to drag Style to the mat but Style just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Mason changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Style fights it off and pushes away nicely.

It looks like Tim Style has been cut. Mason fails to land with a series of punches.
Style throws a leg kick that misses. Style tries to score with a low kick but Mason moves his leg out of the way. Mason clinches. Mason has clasped his hands together around Style's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. You can see the frustration on Style's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mason thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The ground and pound from Mason seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mason is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Style knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. You can see the frustration on Style's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Style is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Mason is staying active. Mason tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mason has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Mason is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Mason wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Style, who protects the arm well. You can see the frustration on Style's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Style dodges the ground and pound from Mason. Mason looks up at the clock and then as Style takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Mason smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mason stands up. Style lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Mason clinches up with Style and pushes him back against the cage. Mason works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Style utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Mason throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Mason trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Mason is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Style is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Style has escaped and now he's on top! Mason is breathing heavily. Style trying to move into half guard but instead Mason has managed to sweep! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mason got a little sloppy there for a moment and Style has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mason has managed to get both his arms back between Style's legs - danger averted. Style is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mason chips away with some ground and pound. Mason is in close to Style's body, working some short punches and elbows. Mason postures up.
Mason throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Style works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Style is trying to control the position but Mason postures up. Mason postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Style is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mason, into his guard. Style prevents Mason from getting back to his feet. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Style avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marshall Mason dominated that round. The cut man is working on Tim Style's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Style lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Mason has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Mason and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Mason drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Style tries to bench press Mason off him but Mason keeps the position. Style wants to control but Mason postures up. Mason goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Style has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Mason but great work by Style. Mason is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Style off and has taken his back! Mason has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Style has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
You can see the frustration on Style's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Mason has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
