Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Jonsson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Koji Sukaka! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sukaka fails to land with a series of punches.
Jonsson fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Sukaka shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Sukaka is working for a submission of some sort.
Jonsson tries to get to full guard but Sukaka has control of the leg. Sukaka trying to control the action but Jonsson is working from the bottom. Sukaka not landing any meaningful shots this time. Sukaka prevents Jonsson from improving his position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Sukaka trying to mount his opponent but Jonsson defends it. Jonsson is looking to improve his position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Jonsson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jonsson trying to control but Sukaka is working from the bottom. Sukaka has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jonsson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Jonsson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Sukaka wants to sweep here but Jonsson controlling him for the moment. Jonsson lands a couple of decent looking shots. Jonsson tries to free his leg and advance position but Sukaka is retaining full guard. Sukaka is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Sukaka is looking for a sweep. Sukaka is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Jonsson's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Jonsson is working for a submission of some sort.
Jonsson wants to free his trapped foot but Sukaka is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jonsson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Nice strikes from Jonsson there. Jonsson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Sukaka knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Sukaka gets back to full guard.
Jonsson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sukaka swivels though and keeps the full guard. Sukaka is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Jonsson looking to pass the guard. Sukaka looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jonsson is one step ahead there.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Jonsson finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Jonsson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sukaka sprawls well initially but Jonsson persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Jonsson slips a nice elbow through Sukaka's hands, connecting with Sukaka's forehead. Jonsson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Sukaka tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Jonsson is trying to control the action in half guard but Sukaka is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Jonsson blocks the strikes from Sukaka.
Jonsson wants to work for an arm triangle but Sukaka is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Sukaka is looking to improve his position.
Sukaka is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jonsson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jonsson's back! Sukaka trying to control momentarily.
Jonsson rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Jonsson is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Sukaka pulls his head out easily. Sukaka is trying to work for a kimura but Jonsson is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jon Jonsson will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
A choreographed right hand from Jonsson misses the target. Sukaka gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Jonsson counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Sukaka is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jonsson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jonsson's back! Sukaka looking to break Jonsson's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Jonsson remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Sukaka will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Sukaka is hanging on to Jonsson's back as he tries to escape.

Sukaka connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Jonsson to escape the position.

Sukaka lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jonsson! Jonsson is trying desperately to improve position. Sukaka with a couple of short strikes. Jonsson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jonsson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. BOOM! Sukaka connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Sukaka goes for an armbar but Jonsson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Jonsson. Sukaka trying to strike off his back.

Jonsson is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Sukaka is surviving well by controlling Jonsson's body position as best he can. Sukaka is trying to escape the mount.
Jonsson wants to finish this one by submission but Sukaka is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Jonsson. Jonsson has hold of Sukaka's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Sukaka manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jonsson trying to control the action but Sukaka is working from the bottom. Sukaka wants to get back to full guard. Jonsson is trying to control the action in half guard but Sukaka is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Jonsson uses his free foot to push down on Sukaka's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Sukaka. Jonsson looking for a guillotine from mount but Sukaka is having none of it. Jonsson looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Jonsson prevents Sukaka from getting the reversal. Sukaka defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Jonsson. Jonsson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sukaka is looking to escape. Sukaka can't escape the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sukaka stops Jonsson from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Sukaka is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Jonsson locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Sukaka is forced to tap!
