The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Novo goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
The fight stays on the outside here - Novo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Novo had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hall is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Novo Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hall's back instead.
Novo is breathing heavily.
Novo is trying to stick to Hall's back but Hall is turning into Novo. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Novo's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Hall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hall not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Despite being in the dominant position, Micheal Hall just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Hall counters with a nice double leg into side control. Novo won't be happy with that.
