Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brian Carver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Ziribastow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carver's entrance music is Brian Carver Entrance Song. A fine choice. Ziribastow has chosen DEAD STARS as his entrance music. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brian Carver! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Shawn Ziribastow! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Luis Engracia and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ziribastow shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Carver bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ziribastow's guard. Carver sitting in guard, not really doing much. Carver trying to control but Ziribastow is working from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Brian Carver just wasn't active enough. Ziribastow steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Carver. Carver scores with a hook to the body. Ziribastow takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Carver tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Ziribastow manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Carver swings widly with a right hand
and Ziribastow counters with a shoot takedown. Carver fights it but they end up in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carver utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Ziribastow postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Ziribastow lands a couple of decent looking shots. Carver working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Ziribastow. Ziribastow postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Ziribastow throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Carver preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Ziribastow wants to pass the guard but Carver is keeping the position. Ziribastow with a flurry of punches that miss. Ziribastow throws a strike but Carver rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carver is fighting to break Ziribastow's control of his arms but Ziribastow is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
We're going to have a standup here because Brian Carver wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Carver misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Ziribastow counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Carver! This has been an exciting period of action! Ziribastow lands a nice shot to the head. Ziribastow throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Ziribastow landing strikes from the mount. Ziribastow putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Ziribastow misses with a head shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ziribastow punishing his opponent with strikes. Ziribastow thowing shots but they're missing. Ziribastow in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Carver is breathing heavily. Ziribastow looking to ground and pound but Carver is blocking nicely. Ziribastow thowing shots but they're missing. Ziribastow working the ground and pound effectively.
Ziribastow lands a big elbow. Ziribastow landing shots from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ziribastow throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Ziribastow unloading with bombs! Ziribastow landing strikes from the mount and Carver is in trouble!
Carver is rocked! Ziribastow fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Oh Carver is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Ziribastow postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Carver looks a forlorn figure.
Ziribastow thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Ziribastow lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Carver wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Ziribastow.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Ziribastow looking to finish Carver with some ground and pound. This is bad for Carver! A big strike lands for Ziribastow! That's really hurt Carver and he's turned his back - Ziribastow keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Ziribastow jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
