Mattias has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Marlon Mattias has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bruce Sanders!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Leandro Rodrigues and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanders throws a left that rocks Mattias and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Sanders dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Mattias regain composure!

Sanders wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mattias, who protects the arm well.
Oh Mattias is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Sanders thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Sanders tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sanders has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Mattias seems to have got his legs back now.
Mattias is controlling an arm, preventing Sanders from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Sanders looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Mattias stops Sanders from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Mattias misses with a hook.
Sanders comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Sanders connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Bruce Sanders seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sanders closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Sanders looks to land a combination but Mattias avoids it well.

Sanders scores with the left hand. Mattias knows he should have avoided that one.

Mattias throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Sanders staying out of range there.

Sanders throws a good cross that connects.
Sanders misses with a double jab.

Sanders bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Mattias misses with an uppercut
and Sanders counters with a left to the body.
Sanders takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Mattias throws an off balance right hand
and Sanders counters with a nice uppercut.
Sanders looks to land a combination. Mattias sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Sanders lands a nice looking body shot.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mattias misses with a body kick.
Sanders misses with a wild body shot.
Mattias takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Sanders misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sanders slips under a jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Sanders dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Sanders takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Mattias throws a low kick but Sanders avoids it.
Mattias swings away with a body shot that misses

and Sanders counters with a combination of strikes to the head and body that crumple Mattias!

Sanders wants to work for an arm triangle but Mattias is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Sanders. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Mattias wants to control but Sanders is keeping busy.
Sanders wants to pass the guard but Mattias is defending well.
Sanders wants to take a breather but Mattias is having none of it.

Sanders seems to be working for a kimura but Mattias defends the submission attempt.

Sanders is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mattias is just riding it out for now. Sanders eventually gives up the hold.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mattias moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Sanders drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Sanders seems to have locked his on tight now - Mattias screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Sanders, as he picks up the win!
