Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kryllum Skullfly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pieter Roos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Skullfly is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Glass and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roos tries to clinch up but Skullfly circles away and keeps his distance.
Skullfly is breathing heavily.
Roos shoots in for a double leg but Skullfly sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Roos looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Roos clinches with his opponent.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Roos ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Roos no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Roos seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Skullfly tries to free his leg and advance position but Roos is retaining full guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Pieter Roos hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Roos buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Roos looks for a takedown but Skullfly sprawls well.

Roos fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Roos moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Pieter Roos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Roos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Skullfly tries to avoid it but Roos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Skullfly to the ground. Skullfly escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Roos throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Roos dives in and grabs Skullfly's left leg, looking for a takedown. Skullfly pushes down on Roos's head and hops out.

Skullfly tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Roos smiles and moves away.

Skullfly avoids the head kick by Roos.
Skullfly keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Roos takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Roos tries to close the distance and clinch up but Skullfly swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Skullfly shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Roos as he jumps to the side.
Roos pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Roos looks to land a combination but Skullfly avoids it well.
Roos shoots in looking for a takedown. Skullfly tries to sprawl out of it but Roos keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Skullfly manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Horrible takedown by Skullfly or perhaps it was just good defense by Roos which made him look bad.

Roos closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Roos lands an elbow inside that Skullfly shrugs off.
Roos tries for a takedown. No joy.
Roos gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Skullfly.
Skullfly with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Roos tries to break the clinch but Skullfly is controlling the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roos wants to stand but Skullfly is controlling the position.
Skullfly has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Roos has Skullfly pulled in close to control his posture.
Skullfly throws and elbow that misses. Roos uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Skullfly's guard. Nice move by Roos!

Roos drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Roos jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Roos distracts Skullfly with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Skullfly is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
Pieter Roos comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Roos has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
