Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 18 - 0, fighting out of London, Jimmy Esperanza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Gareth Miller! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Chris Edwards and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Miller tries to clinch up. Miller tries to clinch and Esperanza makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Miller looks to clinch and Esperanza counters with a one-two to the body. Miller moves in looking to clinch but Esperanza pushes him off. An inside leg kick lands from Esperanza. Miller darts in trying to clinch and Esperanza counters with a single leg into guard. Miller didn't expect that. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Esperanza controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Esperanza seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Miller for as long as he can get away with. Esperanza working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Esperanza has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miller wants to stand and escape but Esperanza is having none of it. Miller really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Esperanza. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Miller has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A cross from Esperanza lands. Esperanza throws a quick inside leg kick. Esperanza moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Esperanza connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Esperanza throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Miller wants to clinch and Esperanza counters with a nice low kick that buckles Miller's knee momentarily. Esperanza misses with a jab, cross combination.
Miller fails in his attempt to clinch. Esperanza lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Esperanza circles away from the clinch attempt and Esperanza counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Jimmy Esperanza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Miller looks gassed! Ouch! a nice leg kick from Esperanza, right into the meat.
Esperanza gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Esperanza is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Miller is defending well. Miller throws a head punch that misses. Miller takes a knee to the side of the body. Miller content to slow the pace in the clinch.
A short uppercut from Esperanza. Miller is trying to push Esperanza away but Esperanza has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Esperanza is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Miller is defending well. Miller is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Esperanza drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

It looks like Gareth Miller has been cut. Esperanza lands a knee to the body.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Miller wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Esperanza looks to throw an elbow but misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jimmy Esperanza dominated that round. The cut man is working on Gareth Miller's cut. That's time! Esperanza's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Miller tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Jimmy Esperanza is winning the standup battle so far. Miller wants to clinch but Esperanza slips to the side and Esperanza counters with a three punch combo that has Miller backing up. Miller nods at Esperanza to acknowledge the strikes.
Miller is rocked! Esperanza lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Miller falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jimmy Esperanza! Jimmy Esperanza took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
