Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stirling Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Bertanco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stirling Steel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joe Bertanco! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Radbod Blank and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Steel dives in and grabs Bertanco's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bertanco pushes down on Steel's head and hops out. Steel darts in and clinches Bertanco up against the cage. Steel successfully pulls guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Bertanco would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Steel is trying to keep Bertanco in close.
Bertanco sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Steel's guard. Bertanco working Steel over with strikes. Bertanco has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Steel is trying to stand back up but Bertanco is controlling him
Steel tries to roll over but Bertanco keeps him under control. Steel is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bertanco's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bertanco's back! Steel doesn't have the hooks in and Bertanco manages to turn into his guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bertanco wants to control from the top but Steel keeps moving. Steel tries to land a sweep but no joy. Bertanco trying to control but Steel is working from the bottom. Steel had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bertanco defends it easily. Bertanco throws a big right hand that misses. Bertanco wants to control from the top but Steel keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Steel is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Bertanco stays in close to Steel's body and controls the position. Bertanco trying to control but Steel is working from the bottom.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Joe Bertanco wasn't active enough on the ground. Bertanco closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bertanco lands in his opponent's guard. Steel trying to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Steel controlling the position. Bertanco trying to control the position from guard on top but Steel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bertanco sitting in guard here, content to control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Steel avoids a kick to the body.
Bertanco shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Steel but Steel pushes him off and we're back to square one. Steel fails with the takedown. Bertanco avoids the head kick by Steel.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Steel tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Bertanco dives in and grabs Steel's left leg, looking for a takedown. Steel pushes down on Bertanco's head and hops out. Bertanco will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Stirling Steel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Bertanco. Steel displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
It looks like Joe Bertanco has been cut. Steel pushes Bertanco up against the cage in a clinch. This has been an exciting period of action! With the fighters clinched against the cage, Steel creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Steel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bertanco takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Bertanco looks gassed! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Steel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Steel looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Steel slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Stirling Steel dominated that round. The cut man is working on Joe Bertanco's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Steel tries for a takedown but Bertanco circles away easily and Bertanco counters by clinching up. Bertanco letting Steel take a breather here. Bertanco tries to break free but Steel pushes him back against the cage. Steel breaks the clinch.
Bertanco misses with a takedown attempt - Steel sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. A momentary lapse in concentration from Bertanco enables Steel to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bertanco manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Bertanco has eaten all the pies! Steel tries to free his leg and advance position but Bertanco is retaining full guard. Steel postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steel has gone for a leg lock! Bertanco slips out almost immediately though and dives into Steel's guard. Steel will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Bertanco trying to control the position from guard on top but Steel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bertanco wanted to stand there but Steel had control of the position. Bertanco stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Steel swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bertanco is stalling in the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Joe Bertanco. Steel lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Bertanco closes the distance and clinches up with Steel, looking for a takedown. Bertanco pushes Steel against the cage but Steel circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Bertanco is breathing heavily. Steel clinches up against the cage. Steel tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bertanco smiles and moves away.
No luck for Steel with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stirling Steel. That's going to take a lot out of him. Steel looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Steel bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bertanco struggling a bit here. Bertanco gets back to half guard. Bertanco is trying to maintain the position but Steel is very close to passing his half guard. Steel is trying to control the action in half guard but Bertanco is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Steel lands a nice short elbow. Steel passes the guard and advances to mount! Bertanco flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Steel prevents Bertanco from getting the reversal. Steel controlling the pace for now. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Stirling Steel dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Joe Bertanco's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Bertanco gets a double leg takedown into Steel's guard. Bertanco drops back, looking for a kneebar! Steel looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Steel looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Steel! Steel wants to control for a moment but Bertanco uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Steel not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Steel is looking to take a break and control but Bertanco is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steel trying to control the pace. Steel is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Bertanco reverses the position - he's now on top in Steel's guard. Steel keeping full guard, as Bertanco tries to pass. Bertanco trying to control the position from guard on top but Steel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Steel has momentary wrist control but Bertanco slips an elbow through the middle. Bertanco trying to control but Steel is working from the bottom. Bertanco drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Steel dives on top into guard. Bertanco wriggles free and stands up. Bertanco takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Bertanco looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. No luck with that takedown attempt from Bertanco.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Steel throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Bertanco tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Steel is in Bertanco's guard. Bertanco can't keep his opponent in guard - Steel advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Bertanco trying to control but Steel postures up.
Steel decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Steel will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Bertanco gets caught flat footed, as Steel shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Stirling Steel overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Steel won't allow Bertanco to sweep him here. Steel has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Steel with a nice head shot there. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Steel is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Bertanco bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Steel's guard. Steel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bertanco on the ground. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bertanco advances position into side control! Joe Bertanco has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Stirling Steel is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Steel can't do much from the bottom here.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Stirling Steel. Well Steel has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
