Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wayne Andrews! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Justin Bullard! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bullard tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Andrews was well out of range. Poor timing from Bullard. Andrews lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bullard circles away quickly and effectively. Andrews cracks Bullard with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Andrews lands a slapping body shot.
Bullard has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Andrews. Andrews lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. The crowd cheers as Andrews lands an impressive looking overhand right. Bullard doesn't seem phased though. Andrews ducks under a wild hook from Bullard. Bullard slips under a jab from Andrews. Bullard misses with a straight right. Andrews bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Bullard cracks Andrews with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Bullard throws a jab when Andrews was well out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters circling - Bullard throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Andrews connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Andrews takes one on the button. Bullard scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Bullard misses the jab. Andrews misses the jab. Bullard misses with an uppercut
enabling Andrews to counter with a crisp jab. Andrews ducks right into an uppercut from Bullard. Bullard getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Bullard stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bullard wants it to stay on the feet. Andrews pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bullard takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Bullard has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Bullard there as he acknowledges the shot. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bullard slips a jab and a cross from Andrews.
Andrews connects with a good right hand that stumbles Bullard. Bullard circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Andrews loads up on a big right hand but Bullard slips the punch. Andrews on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Bullard might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Bullard misses with a double jab
and Andrews counters with a nice uppercut. Andrews throws a hook to the side of Bullard's head but Bullard sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Bullard on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Justin Bullard is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Andrews misses with an uppercut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bullard slips under a jab. Andrews doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Andrews lands a nice shot that snaps Bullard's head back.
Bullard throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Andrews fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bullard avoids it really well and circles away. Bullard throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Andrews throws a poor cross that misses
and Bullard counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Bullard swings and misses with a shot to the body and Andrews counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bullard's guard now. Bullard keeping moving, preventing Andrews from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Andrews drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Andrews seems to have locked his on tight now - Bullard screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Andrews, as he picks up the win!
