Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dire Strait!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jarbas Onofre!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Aafke Stam and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strait bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Onofre swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Onofre lands with a shot to the body.
Onofre misses with a jab, cross combination.
Strait cracks Onofre with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Strait misses with an uppercut.
Onofre swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Strait counters with a nice double leg into side control. Onofre won't be happy with that.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Onofre pushes Strait away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Strait gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Strait misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Onofre is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Strait prevents Onofre from improving his position.
Ground and pound from Strait.
Strait moves into full mount! Onofre won't be happy about that!
Strait lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
It looks like Jarbas Onofre has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Onofre is in all sorts of trouble here.
Strait working away from the top, dropping strikes.
That has opened up Jarbas Onofre's cut even more.
Onofre is looking to get to half guard.
Onofre looks gassed!
Strait scoring with strikes but Onofre is staying in there.
The cut above Jarbas Onofre's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jarbas Onofre's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Dire Strait!
An out of breath Dire Strait thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
