Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Luc Deveraux! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 6 - 1, fighting out of London, Julius Lawson! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Paul Tew and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lawson takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Deveraux takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Lawson just misses with a punch to the body.
Good leg kick by Deveraux there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Lawson lunges at Deveraux with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Deveraux's hand. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Deveraux tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lawson was well out of range. Poor timing from Deveraux. Lawson misses the shot to the body. A nice leg kick lands there from Deveraux. Lawson works the jab nicely. Deveraux with a nice cross. Deveraux lands a head kick. Lawson smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
It looks like Julius Lawson has been cut. Deveraux uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lawson.
Deveraux connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Lawson ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Deveraux fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lawson avoids it really well and circles away. Lawson connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
It looks like Luc Deveraux has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Deveraux keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Lawson. Lawson dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Lawson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Lawson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Deveraux manages to avoid it. Lawson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Deveraux. Deveraux throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Lawson's head. Deveraux will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Lawson moves out of range as Deveraux strikes. Deveraux throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Lawson. Julius Lawson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Lawson misses with a wild body shot. Lawson scores with a shot to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Lawson misses with a body shot.
A chopping leg kick lands by Deveraux. Deveraux looks to land a body kick but Lawson moved away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lawson misses the jab. Lawson just misses with a punch to the body.
Lawson throws a jab when Deveraux was well out of range. Lawson walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Deveraux misses with an attempted mid kick.
Nice uppercut there from Lawson. Nice straight punches there by Lawson. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Lawson. Deveraux fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Lawson on the side of the head. Lawson drops Deveraux with a straight right hand, right on the button! Lawson follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
