Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jimmy Bagato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kai Gi!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gi tries to close the distance and clinch but Bagato swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Bagato gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Bagato has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Gi jumps guard but Bagato turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Gi tries to score a body lock takedown but Bagato shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Bagato breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bagato dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Gi. That did some damage!
Bagato scores with a jab to the jaw.
Bagato moves into range and connects with a jab.
Gi's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Bagato connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Gi scrambles back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gi is looking to clinch but Bagato is avoiding it.
Bagato scores with a decent looking hook.
Danga de danga de dang - Bagato scores with a four punch combination!
Bagato lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Bagato circles away from the clinch attempt
and Bagato counters with a nice low kick that buckles Gi's knee momentarily.
Gi tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bagato paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gi tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Gi closes the distance but Bagato moves to the side
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Gi darts in trying to clinch
letting Bagato counter with a right hand.
Nice shot by Bagato.
Gi is rocked!
Gi looks to clinch
and Bagato counters with a crisp right that sends Gi to the canvas! Bagato follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jimmy Bagato!
