The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercier connects with a nice looking jab.
Silva tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Silva takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Mercier with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Silva closes the distance but Mercier moves to the side
and Mercier counters with a left to the body.
Donk. Mercier catches Silva right on the button with a cross.
Mercier connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Silva's hands.
Jim Bob Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva darts in trying to clinch
and Mercier counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

and Mercier counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Mercier counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Mercier connects with a single shot there.
Mercier circles away from the clinch attempt
and Mercier counters with a one-two to the body.

Silva is rocked!

Mercier darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Oh Silva is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mercier feints a jab promting Silva to slip. Mercier then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Silva slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Silva switches off momentarily and Mercier cracks him with a monster right hand! Silva topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Mercier dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Mercier!
