The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz tries for a takedown but Smith sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Smith throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Diaz's waist but Diaz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smith off to one side.
Smith takes one to the side of the head.
Smith takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Diaz gets a clinch.
Smith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Diaz closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Diaz tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Smith avoids it.
Diaz looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Smith is looking for a takedown.
Smith is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Diaz is defending well for now.
Smith lands a body punch in the clinch.

It looks like Dustin Smith has been cut.

Diaz pushes off an throws an elbow but Smith leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Smith breaks the clinch.
Diaz throws a chopping leg kick but Smith manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Diaz lands a two punch combo.
Smith gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Smith lands a hook that snaps the head of Diaz backwards.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Diaz throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Smith blocks it with crossed arms.
Smith drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jose Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dustin Smith.

Smith is rocked!
Diaz dips a shoulder and cracks Smith with a mighty uppercut! Smith falls back against the cage and Diaz unloads with a barrage of strikes! Smith is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Diaz screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
