And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Kim!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Alyssa Summers and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Kim. No joy for Kanzaki on that attempt.
Kanzaki looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kim is fending him off so far but Kanzaki persists. Nope, Kim circles away and we're back to standing.
Ryo Kanzaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kim bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kanzaki really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kanzaki is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Kanzaki tries to get to full guard but Kim has control of the leg.
Kanzaki is working hard here to advance position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Kim is looking for a kimura but Kanzaki is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kim to get the leverage.

Kim is trying to work for a kimura but Kanzaki is defending well.
Kanzaki is trying to control but can't.

Kim is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Kim seems to be looking for submissions.

Kanzaki slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Kanzaki looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kim is one step ahead there.
Kanzaki trying to keep a closed guard but Kim is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kim slips nicely into half guard.

Kim wants to work for an arm triangle but Kanzaki is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Kim seems to be working for a kimura but Kanzaki defends the submission attempt.
Kanzaki wants to improve his position but Kim is controlling well.
Kim tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kanzaki knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Kanzaki keeping hold of Kim's head, controlling as best he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kim has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Kanzaki defend it? Kim steps over the head and cranks it - Kanzaki is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Kim!
