The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duarte shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Mike looking for submissions off his back.
Mike is refusing to be controlled, as Duarte sits in half guard.
Duarte passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Mike!
Mike really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Duarte lands with some strikes.
Duarte lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Mike is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Duarte trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Mike is looking to improve his position but Duarte isn't that keen on the idea.
Duarte cracks Mike with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Mike should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Duarte postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Mike in real trouble here! The ref calls for Mike to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
