Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bob Robertson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pablo Ortiz!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robertson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Ortiz looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Robertson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ortiz swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Ortiz counters with a takedown into side control.

Ortiz is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Robertson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Robertson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Ortiz connects with a decent elbow.
Robertson is looking for a sweep.

Robertson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ortiz throws and elbow that misses. Robertson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ortiz's guard. Nice move by Robertson!

Poor strikes thrown by Robertson there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Robertson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ortiz is looking to escape.

Robertson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ortiz to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ortiz shrugs it off.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bob Robertson.

Pablo Ortiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Robertson lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Robertson.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Robertson misses with a few strikes there.
Ortiz swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Robertson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Robertson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ortiz's waist but Ortiz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Robertson off to one side.
Robertson tries to close the distance and clinch but Ortiz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Robertson tries to land a front kick but Ortiz steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Robertson shoots for a double leg takedown but Ortiz sprawls well. He's pushed Robertson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Ortiz walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Ortiz is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Robertson.

Ortiz drops back, looking for a kneebar! Robertson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Robertson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Robertson!

Robertson is really struggling to control Ortiz but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Robertson works to advance to full mount. Ortiz defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Robertson is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Ortiz is surviving well by controlling Robertson's body position as best he can.
Ortiz is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Robertson has taken his back.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Robertson is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Ortiz has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Well Robertson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
