Matthew Kane struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 266.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matthew Kane! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Moreira drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kane looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Moreira tries for a kimura but Kane is defending well. Moreira is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kane knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Moreira tries for a kimura but Kane is defending well. Moreira stands up and we're back to a striking position. Moreira misses with a head kick.
Kane closes the distance and clinches. Moreira tightens his grip and picks Kane up, before dumping him to the ground. Kane manages to land in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kane has his hands on Moreira's head, controlling the position. Moreira slips nicely into half guard. Moreira is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Kane has managed to free his arm - good work. Moreira wants to stand up but Kane is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Moreira is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kane is just riding it out for now. Moreira eventually gives up the hold. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kane misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Kane is defending against the submission attempts here by Moreira.
Kane wants to get back to his feet. Moreira is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kane defends it well. Moreira wants to pass to mount but Kane is defending the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Moreira moves nicely into side control. Moreira in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Kane is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
