Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mamoru Takamura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Walt Myers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Myers has chosen That Ain't Classy by Classified as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mamoru Takamura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Walt Myers!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Eddie Farnsworth and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Danga de danga de dang - Myers scores with a four punch combination!
Myers throws a right and a left that Takamura avoids nicely.
Myers swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Takamura misses with the combination.
Sloppy strikes from Myers. Those never looked like landing.
Myers tests Takamura's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Takamura shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Myers's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Myers can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Takamura controls the pace.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Takamura decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Myers, up you get!

Takamura instigates a clinch.

Takamura has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Myers clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Myers wants to escape the position.

Takamura slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Myers rolls, trying to escape but Takamura keeps control of the position.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Takamura controlling the positon.
Myers is in bad spot here.
What can Myers do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Takamura gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.

Myers trying to control but not successfully.

Takamura is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Myers trying to control the action but Takamura just sinks the hooks in.
Takamura is landing with strikes. Myers can't take much more of this.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Takamura.

Takamura is persistently looking for the submission but Myers is defending it well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Takamura lands a shot to the body.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Takamura just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Myers tries to roll but Takamura sticks to his back.
Takamura biding his time, controlling Myers.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Takamura is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Myers knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Myers for a finish.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mamoru Takamura dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A combination from Myers does no damage.

Takamura shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Myers not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Takamura engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Takamura is looking to work some ground and pound but Myers has wrist control.
Myers looking to control.
Takamura is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Myers tries to clinch up

and Takamura counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Myers's guard now.

Takamura is pushing down on Myers's leg trying to pass to half guard. Myers is fighting to maintain full guard but Takamura has managed to sneak the leg through.

Takamura stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Myers to get to his feet.
A head kick misses from Takamura.
Myers fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Takamura on the side of the head.
Takamura shoots in for a double leg but Myers sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Takamura will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Myers up against the cage.
Takamura gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Takamura works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Takamura won't allow Myers to get back to his feet.
Takamura slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Takamura postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Myers is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Takamura slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Myers takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Takamura is trying to get an arm triangle but Myers is defending well.

Takamura wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Myers, who protects the arm well.
Myers is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Takamura decides to stand back up. Takamura steps back and let's Myers get back to his feet.
Myers lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Takamura circles away quickly and effectively.
Myers is looking to clinch but Takamura is avoiding it.

Takamura pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Myers tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Takamura paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Takamura closes the distance and clinches.
Myers is trying to break the clinch but Takamura has him pressed against the cage.
Myers is looking to break free of the clinch but Takamura has double underhooks.

Takamura pulls guard successfully.
Myers must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Takamura tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Takamura on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Takamura tries to get out of the position.
Myers would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Myers scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Myers throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Takamura tries to move into range but Myers moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Takamura fails with a takedown attempt.
Myers cracks Takamura with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Takamura moves into the clinch successfully.
Myers takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Myers is looking to break free of the clinch but Takamura has double underhooks.
Takamura lands a left hand.
Takamura keeps control of Myers as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Myers managing to block the knees to the body from Takamura.
Takamura tries to land a knee to the head but Myers blocks with his arms.

Takamura manages to break the clinch.
Myers lands a jab-cross combination.

Takamura closes the distance and clinches.
Takamura throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Takamura manages to break the clinch.
Myers misses with a series of wild punches.
Myers shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Takamura eats them both and turns towards Myers to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Walt Myers has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Myers wants to clinch but Takamura slips to the side

and Takamura counters with a nice double leg into side control. Myers won't be happy with that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Myers is being controlled here.

Takamura working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Myers is looking for a sweep.
Takamura remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Takamura decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Walt Myers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Takamura on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Takamura goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Takamura avoids a punch combination nicely.
Myers looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Takamura darts in and clinches Myers up against the cage.
Myers is trying to break free.

Takamura has Myers pressed against the cage, preventing Myers from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Takamura turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Takamura manages to end up in side control.

Takamura wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Myers, who protects the arm well.

Takamura tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Takamura has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Takamura slows the pace down.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Myers misses with an elbow from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mamoru Takamura showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Takamura, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
