Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mr Knockout! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Vladamir Popodov! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Donald Grub and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knockout fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Left hook, right uppercut from Knockout.
It looks like Vladamir Popodov has been cut. Popodov shoots in but Knockout avoids the takedown attempt easily. Knockout works over Popodov's head and body with a nice combination. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Knockout fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Popodov tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Knockout doesn't manage to clinch there - Popodov circles away.
Horrible takedown by Knockout or perhaps it was just good defense by Popodov which made him look bad. Popodov drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Knockout looking to control.
Popodov passes into half guard. Popodov decides to stand up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Knockout stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Knockout wants it to stay on the feet. Knockout throws a right hand that Popodov ducks under and follows up with a left that Popodov also avoids with ease. Popodov closes the distance and clinches. Knockout wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Knockout working some nice short punches in the clinch. Popodov is looking to take this one to the mat. Mr Knockout has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vladamir Popodov. Knockout jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Popodov walks away with a smile on his face. Knockout gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Knockout instigates a clinch. Knockout changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Popodov fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Knockout scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Popodov looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Knockout is fending him off so far but Popodov persists. Nope, Knockout circles away and we're back to standing. Knockout scores with a one two! Popodov had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Knockout throws a right hand that Popodov ducks under and follows up with a left that Popodov also avoids with ease. Knockout is breathing heavily. Sloppy strikes from Knockout. Those never looked like landing. Popodov drives through with a takedown into guard. Popodov controlling from the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Vladamir Popodov wasn't active enough on the ground. Knockout lands with a nice combination. Popodov backs away looking to recover. Popodov throws a head kick that misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Popodov moves into the clinch. Popodov misses with a punch on the inside.
Popodov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Knockout cracks Popodov with a good jab. Knockout misses with a two punch combination.
Popodov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Knockout looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Knockout is positioning himself to get back to half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Popodov is working to tighten is grip on Knockout's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Knockout has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Popodov is really squeezing tight and eventually Knockout passes out! Popodov breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
