The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lesnar decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Lesnar throws a strike but Riggins avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Riggins is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Lesnar throwing strikes from guard but Riggins blocks nicely.
Lesnar throws and elbow that misses. Riggins uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lesnar's guard. Nice move by Riggins!
Riggins controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

and Riggins counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lesnar!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Riggins is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lesnar postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Tim Riggins overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Lesnar is looking to work some ground and pound but Riggins has wrist control.
Riggins utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lesnar looks to clinch
and Lesnar takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Lesnar misses with a jab, cross combination.
Lesnar is breathing heavily.
Lesnar lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Riggins circles away quickly and effectively.
Some wild striking there from Lesnar.
Brock Lesnar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Riggins rushes Lesnar and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Lesnar is trying to push Riggins away but Riggins has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Riggins content to slow the pace in the clinch.
A right hook to the body lands for Riggins.

Riggins has clasped his hands together around Lesnar's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Riggins working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Riggins thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Riggins remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Riggins lands a decent elbow from side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lesnar can do anything to dispel that myth.
Riggins wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lesnar keeps working.

Lesnar closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lesnar lands in his opponent's guard.
Lesnar takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Riggins pulls Lesnar in to control the position.
Riggins's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Lesnar throws a sloppy strike and Riggins has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Lesnar is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Riggins!
