The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Howard moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Howard.
Jones looks to land a right hand but Howard moved out of range.
Jones tries to clinch but Howard moves out of range.
Howard wants to clinch but Jones slips to the side

and Jones counters by clinching up.
Jones dodges an elbow strike from Howard.
Howard looking to stall.
Howard throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Jones blocks it with crossed arms.
Jones content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jones throws a chopping leg kick but Howard manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Howard fails with the takedown

and Jones counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Howard's guard now.
Jones showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Jones won't allow Howard to get back to his feet.

Howard scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Howard closes the distance but Jones moves to the side

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Well, if Jones is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Howard is looking to escape.
Jones is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Jones tries to pass to full mount but Howard defends it.
Jones is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Jones decides to stand and escape the position.
Jones stuffs the takedown.
Howard is breathing heavily.

Jones drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jones stands up from Howard's guard - Jones perhaps looking for a knockout.
Jones circles away from the clinch attempt.
Howard misses with a few strikes there.
Jones shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Howard pinned against the cage. Howard gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Howard throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Jones shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jones showed some decent athleticism there.
Jones not doing much here.
Howard trying to control from the bottom.
Howard gets back to full guard.
Howard looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there.

Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Howard wants to get back to his feet but Jones is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Howard escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jones gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Greg Jones dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Howard rushes Jones and presses him up against the cage.

Jones gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Howard regains guard.
Jones wants to pass the guard but Howard is keeping the position.
Jones postures up.
Howard is looking to stand up but Jones isn't so interested in that idea.
Jones stopping the sweep attempt from Howard.
Jones controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Howard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Howard is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him.
Greg Jones has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jones lands a couple of digs.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Howard tries to clinch

and Jones holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Howard breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Howard shows good takedown defense.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jones fails with the takedown.
Howard tries to clinch

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Jones wants to stand and escape but instead Howard has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Jones pulls Howard in close to his closed guard and prevents Howard from doing any damage or advancing position.

Jones pushes Howard off and gets back to his feet.

Jones rushes Howard and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Jones pulls guard successfully.
Jones manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Howard is bucking up trying to escape but Jones cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Jones lands a heavy elbow.

Howard has left one of his arms exposed and Jones doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Howard screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
