Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Spandex Rex! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Top Tea! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Ackerman and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rex will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Tea avoids a punch combination nicely.
Tea shoots in and drives through. Rex sprawls well. Tea drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Tea won't allow Rex to sweep him here. Tea tries to free his leg and advance position but Rex is retaining full guard. Tea is looking to work some ground and pound but Rex has wrist control. Rex is pulling down on Tea's head. It's preventing any offense from Tea, at least for the moment. Tea stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rex swivels though and keeps the full guard. Tea missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Rex is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Nice strikes from Rex there. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Tea regains full guard. Nicely done.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tea manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Rex is trying desperately to improve position. Tea wants to control the pace but Rex is squirming around nicely. A nice elbow there by Tea. Tea looking to finish Rex with some ground and pound. This is bad for Rex! Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Rex wants to control but Tea is having none of it. Tea jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Rex manages to avoid the submission attempt. Rex is pushing Tea's head away, looking to escape. Tea manages to hold on to the position though. Tea wants to control but Rex is keeping him busy. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rex gets back to half guard. Rex gets back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tea lands a couple of decent looking shots. Tea wants to pass the guard but Rex is keeping the position. Tea thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Tea works a leg free and moves into half guard. Tea wants to pass to mount but Rex is defending the position. Rex is looking to improve his position.
Tea working Rex over with strikes. Tea trying to mount his opponent but Rex defends it. Rex is trying to get back to full guard. Tea tries to pass to full mount but Rex defends it. Tea passes to full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rex is in a horrible position here. Tea smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Tea landing strikes, looking to finish! Tea has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Tea looking to control but Rex is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Tea with good strikes from the mount here! Tea lands with some strikes. Rex gets back to half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rex gets back to full guard.
Tea pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rex is keeping the position for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rex is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Tea stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rex swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tea won't allow Rex to sweep him here. Rex keeping moving, preventing Tea from controlling successfully. Tea chips away with some ground and pound. Rex bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tea's guard. Tea looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rex is one step ahead there. Rex passes easily into side control. Nice work. Tea tries to improve position but can't. Tea manages to get back to half guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Rex is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Rex with a couple of short strikes. Rex is in the full mount, landing strikes. Rex lands with some strikes. And thats the end of the round the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Top Tea will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Tea ducks under a wild hook from Rex. Rex tries to close the distance and clinch but Tea swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Tea will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Rex throws a series of punches but Tea avoids them all with ease. No luck for Tea with that takedown attempt. Tea misses with a head kick.
A combination from Rex does no damage. Rex shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Rex was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Rex lands a big shot there that rocks Tea but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Tea is in a horrible position here. Rex smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Rex is in the full mount, landing strikes. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Tea is in all sorts of trouble here.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Rex cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Rex blocks Tea's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Rex drops a big elbow. That's hurt Tea! More shots from Rex and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Spandex Rex!
