Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nathan Mir! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Albino Leffe! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Leffe tries to clinch there but Mir circles away.
Leffe scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Mir doesn't seem bothered though. Leffe throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mir's waist but Mir gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Leffe off to one side. Mir scores with a three punch combo!
Mir uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Leffe. Leffe looks to land a right hand but Mir moved out of range. Leffe lands with a straight right. Mir didn't see that one coming. Mir looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Leffe looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mir is fending him off so far but Leffe persists. Nope, Mir circles away and we're back to standing. Leffe throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Mir lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Leffe circles away quickly and effectively. Mir darts in and out, connecting with a jab. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mir throws a series of punches but Leffe avoids them all with ease. Leffe darts in trying to clinch and Leffe takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leffe moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Leffe forces Mir back against the cage and clinches. Leffe is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Mir is defending well. Nathan Mir has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Albino Leffe. Mir is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Mir is trying to force a seperation but Leffe has the dominant position. Leffe scores with a shot to the side of Mir's head. Leffe throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Mirs head. Mir wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Leffe has him pressed against the cage. Leffe has a couple of punches blocked by Mir.
Leffe throws a knee to the head but misses.
Leffe throws a punch but it's blocked by Mir. Leffe goes for a takedown in the clinch but Mir prevents it.
Leffe scores with a hook to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Still in the clinch, Mir scores with a nice short uppercut. A head punch on the inside from Mir fails to land. Mir is trying to push Leffe away but Leffe has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. A head punch blocked on the inside by Mir. Mir doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Leffe makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Leffe has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Mir after a bit of a struggle. Leffe misses with the head strike.
Leffe tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Leffe turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Leffe manages to end up in side control. Mir on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mir tries to get out of the position. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Mir takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Leffe working the ground and pound but Mir is defending the strikes. Leffe looks up at the clock and then as Mir takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Leffe smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Mir prevents Leffe from improving position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leffe in side control, just content to control the action for now. Leffe working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Mir is looking for a sweep. Leffe trying to control the position but Mir is working away. Leffe remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mir is not content to let Leffe control the position. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Sloppy strikes there by Leffe. Leffe in side control, throwing shots but Mir defends. Mir is not content to let Leffe control the position. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Leffe lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Albino Leffe dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
A momentary lapse in concentration from Mir enables Leffe to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mir manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Leffe trying to control the position from guard on top but Mir is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mir trying to control the position.
Mir can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Leffe controls the pace. Leffe trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Leffe looking to sit in guard and control but Mir gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Leffe seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Leffe wants to sweep but no luck.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mir trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Leffe seems keen to control Mir's posture. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Leffe misses with an uppercut
and Mir counters with a left and a right that stings Leffe. Mir misses with a wild combination.

and Leffe cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Leffe loads up on a big right hand but Mir slips the punch. Leffe lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Leffe changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Leffe moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Nathan Mir is winning the standup battle so far. Leffe has closed the distance and engaged Mir in a clinch.
Leffe lands a right hand that snaps the head of Mir backwards.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leffe is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Mir pulls him back up using the underhooks. Mir's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Mir lands a shoulder strike. Mir misses with a punch to the body.
Leffe keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Mir's efforts to push away. Leffe tries to work over Mir's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Leffe tightens his grip and picks Mir up, before dumping him to the ground. Mir manages to land in guard. Leffe trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Leffe throws an elbow that misses. Mir uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Leffe's guard. Nice move by Mir! Leffe is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Leffe thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leffe is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Mir! Leffe is landing with some decent strikes but Mir is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
It looks like Nathan Mir has been cut. Leffe trying to control but Mir is having none of it. Mir is working to get back to half guard.
Leffe is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mir can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Leffe misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Leffe lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Leffe with good strikes from the mount here!
Nathan Mir's cut is getting worse. Leffe scoring with strikes but Mir is staying in there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mir in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Nathan Mir's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Leffe has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Mir's face.
Jeez, Nathan Mir's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Nathan Mir's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
