Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kenji Okabe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Snabbo Smido (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenji Okabe! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Snabbo Smido! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smido tests Okabe's chin there with a solid looking shot. Smido is trying hard to land a takedown here. Okabe sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Nice sprawl there from Okabe as Smido shoots in. Okabe tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Smido was well out of range. Poor timing from Okabe. Smido walks into a straight right hand from Okabe. Smido fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. No luck for Okabe with that takedown attempt. Smido bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Okabe's head. Okabe has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Smido finds it's way round the side to connect with Okabe's head. Okabe missing with a left hand there. That's one minute gone in the round. Smido darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Smido looks to land a strike but Okabe avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Okabe controlling the position. Smido must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Okabe has momentary wrist control but Smido slips an elbow through the middle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Okabe holds on and takes a little breather.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Kenji Okabe. Smido defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Okabe. Okabe swings for the body but Smido moves out of range.

Smido slips under a jab. Okabe misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenji Okabe. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Okabe rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Smido counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Okabe misses with a hook. Smido ducked under it nicely. Snabbo Smido seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Okabe throws out a loose jab but Smido uses good head movement to avoid it. Smido uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Okabe.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smido lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Smido fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Smido lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Okabe takes one to the side of the head.
Smido scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A solid leg kick lands there for Smido.
Smido tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Okabe was well out of range. Poor timing from Smido. Okabe looks to land a left hand but Smido moved out of range nicely. An inside leg kick lands from Smido. Smido slips under a jab from Okabe. Okabe shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smido as he avoids it easily. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Smido misses with an uppercut. Nice sprawl there from Smido as Okabe shoots in. Okabe swings for the body but Smido moves out of range.

Snabbo Smido dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Okabe misses with a wild body shot. Okabe fails with a takedown attempt. Smido throws an off balance right hand
and Okabe counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Okabe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smido swivels though and keeps the full guard. Smido seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Smido looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Smido looking to control but Okabe passes into half guard.
Smido tries to roll over but Okabe keeps him under control. Smido is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smido slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Okabe passes Smido's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Okabe is thwarting Smido's attempts to control the position. Okabe has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Okabe with shots to the head and body - Smido looks very uncomfortable down there. Okabe pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Okabe lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Okabe scores with a couple of good head shots there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Okabe putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Okabe lands a big shot there that rocks Smido but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Smido is desperately trying to improve his position but Okabe has a good base and remains in mount. Okabe dominating with strikes here. Okabe looking to finish Smido with some ground and pound. This is bad for Smido!
Smido is rocked! Okabe dominating with strikes here. Smido is still in real trouble! Can Okabe finish him? Okabe unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Smido wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Okabe celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
