The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bertanco has a takedown stuffed. Bertanco gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Rose breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rose buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Bertanco looks gassed! Rose connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Bertanco momentarily.
It looks like Joe Bertanco has been cut. Bertanco throws the kick towards the body but Rose avoids it. Rose darts in and clinches Bertanco up against the cage. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Bertanco gets control of Rose's arms and successfully pulls guard. Bertanco will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Bertanco seems keen to control Rose's posture.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rose tries to free his leg and advance position but Bertanco is retaining full guard. Rose wants to control from the top but Bertanco keeps moving. Rose sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bertanco's guard. Rose is pressing down on Bertanco's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bertanco is holding on for now. Bertanco wants to get back to his feet.
Rose is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bertanco sees it coming and defends easily. Rose thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Bertanco keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

It's official - Bertanco has eaten all the pies! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rose lands a front kick. Rose lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Joe Bertanco is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Rose gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Rose with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Rose comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. That has opened up Joe Bertanco's cut even more. Marcus Rose is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Bertanco tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Rose throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Marcus Rose is winning the standup battle so far. Rose feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Bertanco's calf. Rose throws a nice head kick!
The cut above Joe Bertanco's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Rose wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Bertanco tries to keep at a distance but Rose has taken the fight into the clinch. Rose's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bertanco takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Rose lands with a slapping head kick.
Joe Bertanco's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters. Rose throws a nice head kick!
Rose throws a nice outside leg kick. Rose is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bertanco can do to turn this around? The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rose wants to clinch. Rose scoring well with a low kick there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Whack! Rose lands a heavy head kick that drops Bertanco. The ref tackles Rose to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Bertanco was done.
