Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carl Weathers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simo Silakka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Carl Weathers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Simo Silakka!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silakka scores with a jab to the body.
Silakka fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Silakka lands with a thumping leg kick.
Weathers misses with a leg kick
and Silakka counters with an outside leg kick.
Weathers is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Silakka gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Silakka effectively controlling the action here.

Silakka breaks the clinch.
Sloppy strikes from Weathers. Those never looked like landing.
A nice leg kick lands there from Silakka.
Silakka looks to land a body kick but Weathers moved away.
Silakka connects with an inside leg kick.

Silakka clinches with his opponent.
Silakka is trying to drag Weathers to the mat but Weathers just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Weathers wants to break free but Silakka has control.

Silakka misses with an elbow strike.

Weathers can't break the clinch.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Weathers is trying to break the clinch but Silakka has him pressed against the cage.
Weathers blocks the elbow strike.

Weathers is trying to force a seperation but Silakka has the dominant position.

Weathers wants to get back to striking at distance but Silakka won't allow it.

Weathers breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Weathers misses with an uppercut.
Silakka feints and then cracks Weathers's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Weathers down.
Silakka digs a good body shot into Weathers's ribs.

Silakka fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Weathers sprawls well initially but Silakka persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Silakka in particular looking to stall.
Weathers blocking the ground and pound attempt from Silakka.
Silakka performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Weathers is looking to clinch.
Silakka throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Silakka lands a head kick. Weathers smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Weathers ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Silakka moves away.
A jab from Weathers misses.
Silakka lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Weathers sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Silakka shoots for a double leg takedown but Weathers sprawls well. He's pushed Silakka's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Silakka.

Silakka lands a big head kick that sends Weathers tumbling to the mat! Silakka takes a step backwards and waves Weathers back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Weathers is rocked!


It looks like Carl Weathers has been cut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Silakka fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Weathers.
Oh Weathers is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Weathers gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Weathers tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Silakka is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Weathers buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Weathers!! Weathers is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Silakka throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Simo Silakka!
Simo Silakka very nearly forgot to thank Perkele! amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
