Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Takanori Gomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antti Rannanjarvi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomi comes into the arena with Scary blaring out of the sound system. Rannanjarvi comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Stonehenge by Spinal Tap kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Antti Rannanjarvi will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Takanori Gomi! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Antti Rannanjarvi! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rannanjarvi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Rannanjarvi fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Gomi. Gomi throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Rannanjarvi sees it coming and avoids it easily. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Rannanjarvi lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Gomi has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Gomi and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Rannanjarvi fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Gomi looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. A combination from Gomi does no damage. Rannanjarvi works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Gomi shoots in and gets a takedown into Rannanjarvi's guard. Gomi prevents Rannanjarvi from getting back to his feet. Gomi stopping the sweep attempt from Rannanjarvi. Rannanjarvi trying to keep a closed guard but Gomi is proving a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rannanjarvi keeping moving, preventing Gomi from controlling successfully. Gomi pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rannanjarvi is keeping the position for now.

Rannanjarvi sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Rannanjarvi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Gomi passes to side control. Gomi works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Gomi working the ground and pound from side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rannanjarvi is not content to let Gomi control the position. Gomi creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Gomi is working Rannanjarvi over with some ground and pound from side control. Rannanjarvi is trying to get back to half guard. Rannanjarvi manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Rannanjarvi prevents Gomi from improving his position. Gomi is working hard here to advance position. Gomi moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Gomi has his feet on Rannanjarvi's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rannanjarvi slips under a jab. Rannanjarvi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gomi manages to avoid it. A bone on bone clash there as Rannanjarvi blocks the leg kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Gomi cracks Rannanjarvi with an open hand slap. Rannanjarvi takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Rannanjarvi scores with a jab. Gomi goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Rannanjarvi walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Gomi checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! A head kick misses from Rannanjarvi. Gomi closes the distance and clinches up with Rannanjarvi, looking for a takedown. Gomi pushes Rannanjarvi against the cage but Rannanjarvi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Rannanjarvi connects with a body shot that sends Gomi's belly button to the back. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Rannanjarvi crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Gomi - the referee stops the clock and Rannanjarvi gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Gomi. Rannanjarvi manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Takanori Gomi dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Gomi slips a nice elbow through Rannanjarvi's hands, connecting with Rannanjarvi's forehead. Gomi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rannanjarvi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Gomi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Gomi is looking to take a break and control but Rannanjarvi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Gomi takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Gomi moves nicely into side control. Rannanjarvi taking a bit of punishment here - Gomi scoring with strikes. Rannanjarvi stops Gomi from passing to mount. This has been an exciting period of action!
