Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Carlo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rhys Cao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Carlo! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rhys Cao! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Donatello Bradman and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carlo lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Cao backs up against the cage.
It looks like Rhys Cao has been cut. Carlo throws a lazy right hand but Cao sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Cao scores with a nice head shot. Cao ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Carlo moves away. Carlo clinches up against the cage. Cao lands an elbow just above Carlo 's eye.
It looks like Jim Carlo has been cut. Cao lands a left hand that snaps the head of Carlo backwards. Carlo is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. A head punch on the inside from Cao fails to land. A right hook to the body lands for Cao.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cao lands on the inside with an uppercut. Cao lands an elbow inside. Cao gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Carlo wants to take the fight to the mat but Cao manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Cao pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Cao lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Carlo backwards. A short right from Cao on the inside. Carlo looking to slow down the pace here.
That's one minute gone in the round. A short body shot lands from Cao as the two fighters clinch.
Cao lands a body punch. Carlo is breathing heavily. Still in the clinch, Cao scores with a nice short uppercut. Carlo can't get the takedown.

Cao is struggling to control the position. Carlo drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Carlo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cao lands a nice elbow. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cao lands a nice uppercut. Knees to the body from Cao.

Cao makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Cao gets through Carlo's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Carlo tries to break free but Cao pushes him back against the cage.

Cao scores with a shot to the side of Carlo's head. Carlo takes an elbow to the forehead.
Jim Carlo's cut is getting worse. Carlo wants to break free but Cao has control.
Cao lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Cao lands with a right to the head. Carlo tries for a takedown but Cao manages to get underhooks.
Carlo is trying to pull guard but Cao has him pressed against the cage. Cao misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Carlo.

Nice body punch from Cao. Carlo jumps guard but Cao turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Still in the clinch, Cao scores with a nice short uppercut. Cao lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Cao lands an elbow that stopped Carlo in his tracks for a moment. Cao throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Carlos head. Cao lands with a light punch inside.

Jim Carlo's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Cao lands a damaging elbow. A shot in the inside from Cao. Cao is working Carlo over against the cage. Cao lands a body shot in the clinch.
Cao lands with a right to the head. Cao lands a left hand that snaps the head of Carlo backwards.
Jeez, Jim Carlo's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Cao pushes Carlo back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Still in the clinch, Cao scores with a nice short uppercut. Cao trying to land knees to the body.
Cao lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Carlo or not. Cao lands an elbow inside.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jim Carlo's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Rhys Cao! Rhys Cao is the new welterweight champion! Rhys Cao very nearly forgot to thank MMA ANIMAL amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
