Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Paul Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Neal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hogan comes to the cage accompanied by The Faint - The Geeks Were Right. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Hogan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Phil Neal!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Russell Pearce and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Neal drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hogan bucks up and tries to throw Neal off but instead Neal has got his back!
Hogan is trying to remain composed but Neal is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.
Hogan is trying to get back to his feet but Neal has full control of the position and if anything, Hogan has just worked his way into a worse spot.
The referee is taking a good look at Hogan as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Neal!
Hogan grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Neal is trying to stick to Hogan's back but Hogan is turning into Neal. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Neal's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Hogan.

Neal is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Neal wants to take the fight to the mat but Hogan manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Neal lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Hogan is trying to stand back up but Neal is controlling him

That's one minute gone in the round.
Neal sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Neal throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Hogan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Neal is working away from the top position though.

Neal wants to work for an arm triangle but Hogan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Neal landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Neal passes the guard and advances to mount!
Neal scoring with strikes but Hogan is staying in there.
Neal won't let Hogan get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Hogan tries to lock up and control but Neal gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Neal lands a heavy elbow.
Hogan is bucking up trying to escape but Neal cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Neal lands a nice shot to the head.


Hogan is rocked!

Oh Hogan is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Neal cracks Hogan with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Phil Neal!
After the fight, Phil Neal was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
