Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tito Ortiz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Oskar Berggren! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Valeri Chadov and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ortiz gets the takedown into side control. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Ortiz working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Ortiz working the ground and pound but Berggren is defending the strikes. Ortiz sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Berggren is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Ortiz wants to control but Berggren is keeping him busy. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Berggren can do anything to dispel that myth. Berggren is pushing Ortiz's head away, looking to escape. Ortiz manages to hold on to the position though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The ref stands the fighters back up because Tito Ortiz just wasn't active enough. Berggren tries to clinch and Ortiz counters with a nice uppercut. Ortiz lands with a hook. Berggren tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Ortiz blocks a low kick nicely. Ortiz shoots in looking for a takedown but Berggren manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ortiz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Ortiz looks to land a body kick but Berggren moved away. Berggren checks a leg kick nicely. Ortiz fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Berggren is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Berggren slaps away a takedown attempt from Ortiz, before circling back to the center of the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tito Ortiz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ortiz throws a front kick aimed at Berggren's knee but Berggren avoids it well. Berggren feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Berggren really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ortiz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Berggren got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ortiz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! Berggren feints and as Ortiz raises his hands in defense, Berggren changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Ortiz wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Berggren avoids a punch combination nicely.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ortiz throws a series of punches but Berggren moves out of range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Berggren tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Some bone on bone action there as Ortiz checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Ortiz scores with a one two! Berggren had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Berggren throws a hook but Ortiz avoids it easily. Ortiz misses with a straight left. Ortiz rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Berggren moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Ortiz is looking to land body kicks. Berggren keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Berggren rushes Ortiz and presses him up against the cage. Berggren has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ortiz uses from the top position. Berggren looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Berggren lands an elbow just above Ortiz 's eye. Ortiz is working for takedown but Berggren is calmly controlling the position for now. Berggren stalling.
Ortiz wants to take the fight to the mat but Berggren manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Berggren looking to throw knees to the head but Ortiz is blocking nicely.
Ortiz has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Berggren is trying to keep an underhook but Ortiz manages to get the takedown into half guard. Berggren wants to get back to his feet. Ortiz working Berggren over with strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ortiz misses with a head shot. Berggren uses the momentum to regain guard. Berggren wants to stand and escape but Ortiz is having none of it.

Berggren gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tito Ortiz. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Berggren misses with an elbow strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Berggren stuffs the takedown attempt from Ortiz. Ortiz gets slowly back to his feet. A slapping leg kick lands for Berggren.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Berggren takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Berggren jumps into guard, dragging Ortiz to the mat.
Oskar Berggren has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Tito Ortiz is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Ortiz trying to control the position from guard on top but Berggren is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tito Ortiz. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ortiz, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
