Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Lavronenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jean Claude Van Damn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Lavronenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jean Claude Van Damn!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Konstantin Menshow and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Damn lands with a kick to the temple. Lavronenko shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

A momentary lapse in concentration from Van Damn enables Lavronenko to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Van Damn manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Lavronenko throws a big right hand that misses.

Lavronenko drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lavronenko jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Lavronenko trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Van Damn being controlled here, momentarily.

Lavronenko working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ivan Lavronenko wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Lavronenko scores with a hook to the body. Van Damn takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Van Damn tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Lavronenko drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lavronenko trying to control the position from guard on top but Van Damn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lavronenko postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Van Damn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lavronenko. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lavronenko is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Van Damn keeping moving, preventing Lavronenko from controlling successfully.

Ivan Lavronenko has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

and Van Damn counters with a thumping low kick.
Jean Claude Van Damn is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Van Damn connects with a solid leg kick.
Van Damn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Lavronenko lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Lavronenko pivots, looking for a leg kick but Van Damn is out of range and Lavronenko settles back down.

Lavronenko dives in and scores a takedown into Van Damn's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lavronenko slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

We're going to have a standup here because Ivan Lavronenko wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Van Damn throws a head kick that misses

and Lavronenko counters with a nice double leg into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Lavronenko throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Van Damn looks to score with a jab to the body but Lavronenko is just out of range.
Van Damn tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Van Damn misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Van Damn pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lavronenko shoots in but no luck this time.

Lavronenko lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Lavronenko.
Van Damn moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Van Damn misses with a body kick.
Van Damn lands a high kick!

Nice sprawl there from Van Damn as Lavronenko shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ivan Lavronenko. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Van Damn avoids the head kick by Lavronenko.
Ivan Lavronenko is winning the standup battle so far.
Van Damn throws a head kick that misses
and Lavronenko cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
The fighters circling - Van Damn throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
No luck for Lavronenko with that takedown attempt.

Lavronenko fails to land with a series of punches.
Lavronenko comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Van Damn throws a head kick that misses.
Van Damn rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lavronenko moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Lavronenko connects with a nice looking jab.
Lavronenko takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Lavronenko drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Lavronenko throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Van Damn works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Van Damn pushes Lavronenko off looking to stand but Lavronenko dives back in and keeps control.
Van Damn keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Lavronenko is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Van Damn is trying to stand back up but Lavronenko is controlling him
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Lavronenko looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Lavronenko works his way into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ivan Lavronenko dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Van Damn tries a head kick but it misses.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lavronenko passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Van Damn!
Lavronenko won't let Van Damn get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Jean Claude Van Damn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Van Damn has given up his back.
Van Damn is trying to get back to his feet but Lavronenko has full control of the position and if anything, Van Damn has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Lavronenko is working the ground and pound. Can Van Damn escape?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Lavronenko has his arm under Van Damn's chin here. Game over son! Lavronenko squeezes tightly and Van Damn is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ivan Lavronenko!
Ivan Lavronenko made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'I still want a rubber match with Nakano!'.
