PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gosha Abramov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viacheslav Eltsov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gosha Abramov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Viacheslav Eltsov!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Konstantin Menshow and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eltsov has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Abramov.
Eltsov takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Gosha Abramov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Abramov moves into the clinch.
Abramov lands a body shot in the clinch.
Eltsov misses with a hook from the clinch.

Eltsov drags the fight down to the ground.
Eltsov trying to strike off his back.
Eltsov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Abramov tries to stand but Eltsov is controlling from the bottom.

Eltsov escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Abramov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Eltsov is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Abramov wants to stand but Eltsov has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Eltsov had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Abramov defends it easily.

Eltsov looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Abramov wants to stand but Eltsov is controlling his posture from full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Abramov gets to his feet. Eltsov looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Abramov throws a right and a left that both miss.
Abramov fails in his attempt to clinch.
Abramov wants to clinch up but Eltsov keeps it at a distance.
Abramov misses with an uppercut.
Abramov closes the distance but Eltsov moves to the side
and Eltsov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
No joy there for Eltsov, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Abramov tries to clinch
letting Eltsov counter with a right hand.
The fight stays on the outside here - Abramov looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Abramov wants to clinch
and Eltsov connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Abramov has taken the fight to the clinch.
Abramov misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Abramov can't find room to land a body shot as Eltsov controls the action.
Abramov misses with a hook to the ribs.
Eltsov tries to pull guard but Abramov holds him up against the cage and eventually Eltsov drops back down to his feet.
Eltsov blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Eltsov tries to pull guard but Abramov won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Eltsov is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Abramov pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Gosha Abramov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Viacheslav Eltsov.
Eltsov is trying to force a seperation but Abramov has the dominant position.
Eltsov fails to pull guard.
Abramov misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Eltsov.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Abramov is pushing Eltsov up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Eltsov tries to pull guard but Abramov forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Abramov with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Abramov misses with a punch to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Abramov tries to work over Eltsov's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Abramov landing knees to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Gosha Abramov will probably get the nod.
That's time! Abramov's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Abramov darts in trying to clinch

and Eltsov counters with a nice double leg into side control. Abramov won't be happy with that.


It looks like Viacheslav Eltsov has been cut.
Abramov is trying to improve his position.
Abramov is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Eltsov has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Eltsov tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Abramov is not content to let Eltsov control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Abramov struggling a bit here.

Eltsov working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Eltsov is working to tighten is grip on Abramov's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Abramov has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Eltsov is really squeezing tight and eventually Abramov passes out! Eltsov breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Viacheslav Eltsov!
